The CHF Consumer Assembly pilot was formed in June 2025 and designed to provide CHF with lived‑experience insight, advice, and strategic guidance to inform and strengthen its work across policy development, projects, education, and advocacy.
The Assembly consisted of 23 consumer representatives from across the country, bringing diverse perspectives, experiences and insights.
Between June 2025 and April 2026, the Assembly participated in a range of activities. These included:
Online Assembly meetings
In‑person Assembly meeting (March 2026)
Working groups and out‑of‑session contributions to documents and resources
Budget submission or policy input
Meetings or preparation for meetings with Ministers or senior decision‑makers
Consultations with government departments
Consumer engagement or capability‑building workshops and webinars for government (including the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care)
Public facing webinars, panels or speaking engagements (e.g. CHF Talks)
Conferences or public events (e.g. Primary Care Conference in Canberra)
Informal connection or networking with other Assembly members
Feedback from Assembly members was overwhelmingly positive. Members said they valued the chance to meet and work with consumer representatives from different backgrounds, contribute to national health discussions, and see their experiences recognised as valuable and treated with respect.
