About

The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) has asked Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) to explore how young people (aged 14-25 years) can be supported in managing their My Health Record. To do this, CHF will be running a series of online focus group discussions with young people, and with parents or guardians of young people.

When someone turns 14, they automatically get full control of their record. This means that they can then decide who can see or update their key health information — including whether their parents or guardians can still access it.

We want to find out if young people and their parents or guardians know about this, how young people would like to be supported to manage their own record, and what kind of role (if any) parents or guardians should have.

What you share in these focus groups will be passed on to the Agency to help improve the info and support available about My Health Record — for young people and their families across Australia.

The opportunity and your role

We’re looking for ten (10) parents or guardians of young people aged 14–18 years to take part in an online focus group.

We want to learn what you know about My Health Record, how you talk to your child about it (if at all), any concerns you have and what information or resources you would like to have on this topic.

The focus group will be held on Tuesday 22 July from 1:30pm-3:00pm (AEST). The focus group will run for 1.5 hours, and you will need to spend about half an hour preparing before the meeting.

You’ll be paid $92.80 (ex GST) per hour for your time, including prep time, and will receive a summary of the discussion afterwards.

Before the session, we’ll send you a short info pack to help you prepare.
