What’s this about? 

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (The Department) is engaged with CHF to hold a roundtable consultation to gather consumer insights on accessing urgent care services, in particular experiences with Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) and other urgent primary care options (including after hours services).  

The Roundtable will explore the following key topics: 

  • Awareness of available urgent care services. 

  • Behaviours and preferences when seeking urgent care. 

  • Barriers and facilitators to accessing affordable and timely urgent care. 

  • Consumer experiences with Medicare UCC's and other urgent care options. 

Insights from the discussion will help guide ongoing improvements to Medicare UCC's. 

What’s the opportunity? 

CHF is inviting up to 25 health consumers to join a roundtable discussion online

CHF is inviting expressions of interest from consumers with an interest in and/or experience with accessing urgent care, including through Medicare UCC's or other urgent care services. 

Successful participants will be asked to: 

  • Review required pre-reading for the consultation (1 hour maximum) 

  • Actively participate in the virtual Roundtable discussion 

  • Share your thoughts and experiences regarding your awareness of and experience with urgent care services.  

What you’ll need to do: 

Join a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm (AEST). 

  • Complete up to 1 hour of reading before the meeting. 

  • You’ll be paid $95.20 per hour (ex GST) for your time.

  2. Have you, someone you provide care for, or a dependant needed to access urgent care in the last 2 years? 

  3. What urgent care services are you aware of? 

  4. What urgent care services have you accessed or considered accessing (for yourself or someone you care for)? 

  • Medicare Urgent Care Clinic 

  • Telehealth service (phone) 

  • Telehealth service (online) 

  • Afterhours GP Clinic 

  • Hospital/Emergency Department 

  • Other (please specify) 

  • None of the above

Other details: 

  • A selection panel will select participants who represent a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. 

  • A Roundtable summary report will be circulated to participants.  

  • Consumers from metropolitan, regional and rural areas are welcome to apply

  • Please fill out our Expression of Interest form. Applications close at 8am (AEST) on Friday, 5 September 2025. 

  • Applicants will be notified about the outcome by Wednesday, 10 September, 2025
