About

Are you interested in supporting a healthier and more connected future for Australians by improving accessibility through digital health initiatives? If so, you may be like to consider becoming a digital health adviser at the Australian Digital Health Agency.

The Agency leads the National Digital Health Strategy 2023–2028, which fosters a person-centered approach to digital health, helping Australians take control of their health and care journey. This includes providing people with greater access to their own health information and supporting improved sharing of health information between consumers and their healthcare providers.

In addition to occasionally inviting people to support specific initiatives, the Agency has an ongoing Digital Health Adviser Service, where healthcare consumers and carers contribute to a variety of projects and programs.

The opportunity and your role

The Agency is seeking up to twenty (20) healthcare consumers and carers with lived experience and an interest in digital health to contribute to national digital health initiatives by joining its Digital Health Adviser service. The role of a Digital Health Adviser involves:

  • drawing on, representing and communicating your perspective and lived experience.

  • speaking from your own journey as a healthcare consumer and/or carer.

  • sharing your insights with various stakeholders to support the Agency's work in leading national digital health initiatives.

As a Digital Health Adviser with lived experience as a consumer and/or carer, you will help make sure digital health systems and services work well for everyone. You will share your thoughts and experiences to help ensure that healthcare tools are easy to use and meet the needs of different people and communities. Your voice will help shape better digital health solutions for all Australians.

The Agency is looking for a diverse range of individuals who use or have an interest in digital health technologies to manage their health. This includes, but is not limited to, those from rural and remote areas; people with or caring for those with disabilities, chronic illnesses or mental health conditions; individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds; people who identify as LGBTQI+; and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.

Digital Health Advisers will be appointed from 1 June 2025 – 30 June 2026, with the potential for two further 12-month term extensions. Opportunities to contribute to the Agency’s work will vary throughout the year, depending on the Agency’s work program. This may include regular or ad-hoc work, with varying duration and frequency.

For example, Digital Health Advisers may be asked to join a committee, contribute views to a project team, join panel discussions, review documents, or participate in consultation activities, strategic or operational discussions. In addition, information sharing workshops for Digital Health Advisers will be held several times throughout the year. In most cases, participation will occur via online tools, however in-person events may also be held.

The Agency will:

  • remunerate consumers in accordance with standard Commonwealth Remuneration Tribunal rates for Holders of Part Time Public Office (Other holders of part-time public office)

  • provide orientation and ongoing support to Digital Health Advisers
